A few weeks ago, Drew and I went to California — half for work half for vacation, and one of my main demands was that we spend some time on the beach. Chicago technically has a beach, but it’s only warm enough to go a couple of months out of the year.

But I guess my lack of time around beaches had me confused because even though we were in California, I look more like I thought we were taking a trip to the Hamptons. I’m not mad about it though. This navy blue scalloped dress is hella comfortable, and I love the little scalloped detailing.

You pretty much know by know that I have 2 types of clothing I like…bold/statement and classic with a twist. There is something so simplistic about this navy blue scalloped dress, but that little scallop trim and different fabric bottom made it the perfect twist piece.

My style can lean a little towards feminine, so that’s probably why the scallop trim sucked me in. And of course, it has pockets so naturally I HAD to have it.

Even though the navy blue scalloped dress is totally cozy, it’s the rest of the look that gives it that “Hamton-esc” style. A straw fedora. Navy blue espadrilles. It all screams “I like to summer here”. I’m not mad about it. I like this look a lot, just saying…where’s my pool boy?

My absolute favorite thing about this look though are the shoes. Navy blue espadrilles with bows and sparrows on them? Something this fabulous could only come from Kate Spade. And better yet, I managed to score them on MAJOR sale at DSW for only $20! Whaaaat? They just seemed so perfect for me and for summer. I mean when you own a company called “The Trendy Sparrow” you HAVE to buy fabulous sparrow espadrilles when you see them…right?
